Rachel Peavy

Rachel Peavy is an experienced trial lawyer who brings almost 20 years of litigation experience to the HawkLaw team, where she advocates on behalf of injured individuals and their families. As part of her litigation practice, Ms. Peavy also represents policyholders in bad faith and coverage matters and handles a select number of employment cases each year. In addition, Ms. Peavy also has experience in appellate matters, having argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and briefed cases in both the South Carolina Supreme Court and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining HawkLaw, Ms. Peavy represented physicians and other healthcare professionals in malpractice and professional licensing matters as part of the healthcare litigation team at one of South Carolina’s oldest defense firms. Previously, she was special counsel for several years at a local personal injury firm and also practiced at a corporate firm focused on commercial litigation and life insurance matters.

A native of Boston, Ms. Peavy graduated with honors from Colgate University and was awarded her juris doctor degree in 2001 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, she was an associate editor of the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal. Ms. Peavy is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of South Carolina, the United States District Court for South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She and her husband, also an attorney, reside in Columbia with their two children.
